CAMBRIDGE XU ZHIMO POETRY AND ART FESTIVAL
The Cambridge Xu Zhimo Poetry and Art Festival was founded in 2015 and has been hosted at King’s College, Cambridge every year since then. The festival provides a unique opportunity for poets, artists, and scholars from Britain and China to congregate and share ideas and experiences.
Xu Zhimo was a great Chinese poet who studied at King’s College in the 1920s. He made many friends here among leading scholars, thinkers, as well as fellow writers and artists including Virginia Wolf,
Katherine Mansfield and Roger Fry. His poem Second Farewell to Cambridge is a much-loved piece in China and all Chinese schoolchildren are familiar with it at one level or another Largely due to the popularity of this poem, thousands of Chinese tourists visit Cambridge at a growing rate, which has led this festival to become one of the most internationally influential literary festivals hosted in the U.K.
